A Quiet Sun - Update On Solar Cycle 24
Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 07:00AM During the last few years we have often written (see articles below) about the lack of sunspot activity in the current solar Cycle 24. Solar Cycle 23 ended in 2007, and by now the sun should be displaying much more activity each month. Even though the new cycle 24 has kicked in, it remains in a minimum stage.

Its Time To Prepare For Another Dalton Minimum
Monday, April 20, 2009 at 04:54PM It is forty three days and counting since the last spot was seen on the face of the sun. The increasing length of this cycle is becoming very similar to the solar cycles preceding the Dalton Minimum in the late 1700s and early 1800's.

The Quiet Sun May Mean Another Dalton Minimum
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 02:51PM The total number of spotless days in this solar minimum exceeds 500 days since the last maximum. The number of blank days in this cycle now makes this sunspot cycle the longest since cycle 9 in 1848.
