A Quiet Sun - Update On Solar Cycle 24

During the last few years we have often written (see articles below) about the lack of sunspot activity in the current solar Cycle 24. Solar Cycle 23 ended in 2007, and by now the sun should be displaying much more activity each month. Even though the new cycle 24 has kicked in, it remains in a minimum stage.

The Quiet Sun May Mean Another Dalton Minimum

The total number of spotless days in this solar minimum exceeds 500 days since the last maximum. The number of blank days in this cycle now makes this sunspot cycle the longest since cycle 9 in 1848.
