The fraudulent science behind the scam called man-made global warming continues to unravel. The latest fuzzy science concerns the threat to the environment made by cows on the farm.

It seems that the United Nations (IPCC) was not content with having lied to us about shrinking glaciers, increasing hurricanes, rising sea levels, and the danger posed by climate change to the Amazon rainforest.  Now, we have the fuzzy math of the cow-burp to contend with.

Cow-burp media hysteria reached a crescendo in 2006 when a United Nations report ominously entitled “Livestock’s Long Shadow” claimed: “The livestock sector is a major player, responsible for 18 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions measured in CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalents). This is a higher share than transport.” This led to demands in America for a “cow tax” and a campaign in Europe last December called Less Meat=Less Heat.

Now, a new report to the American Chemical Society by Frank Mitloehner, an air quality expert at the University of California at Davis, has denounced the scare-mongering as “scientifically inaccurate”. Its  not the first time we have heard that assessment about a scientific report from the IPCC.

Mitloehner reveals that the UN report lumped together digestive emissions from livestock, gases produced by growing animal feed and meat and milk processing, to get the highest possible result, whereas the traffic comparison only covered fossil fuel emissions from cars.

The true ratio, he concludes, is just 3 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions in America are attributable to rearing of cattle and pigs, compared with 26 per cent from transport. Seems like the cows were not really to blame for global warming after all.

Meanwhile, more bad news for the proponents of man-made global warming.

NOAA’s State of the Climate report for the winter season (December through February) indicates that temperatures were below normal for the contiguous United States.

In addition, Russia’s top weatherman has announced that the winter now drawing to a close in Siberia may turn out to be the coldest on record. ‘The winter of 2009-10 was one of the most severe in European part of Russia for more than 30 years, and in Siberia it was perhaps the record breaking coldest ever,’ said Dr Alexander Frolov, head of state meteorological service Rosgidromet.

All the inaccurate scientific reports and the recent cold winters make man-made global warming the  scam of the century with Al Gore and the United Nations (IPCC) the leading hucksters. 

Disappearing Bees

The problem with disappearing honey bees in 2010 continues to get worse.

(Here is the latest update from the AP) The mysterious 4-year-old crisis of disappearing honeybees is deepening. A quick federal survey indicates a heavy bee die-off this winter, while a new study shows honeybees' pollen and hives are laden with pesticides.

Two federal agencies along with regulators in California and Canada are scrambling to figure out what is behind this relatively recent threat, ordering new research on pesticides used in fields and orchards.

Federal courts are even weighing in this month, ruling that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency overlooked a requirement when allowing a pesticide on the market.

The problem with disappearing bees is due to the use of new pesticides and a lack of regulatory oversight by the EPA is to blame. Sooner or later Congress will have to get involved. Lets hope that there are still some bees left to pollinate the food supply by then.
